Get your thumb ready for next month. Apple (AAPL) is making a subtle change to the iPhone’s software that will likely mess with your muscle memory: The big red “end call” button is moving. The iPhone’s phone app will get a series of updates coming to iOS 17, including an updated design that repositions the hang up button to the bottom right of the screen, next to other functions. The button currently sits separately at the bottom middle of the phone app, underneath the buttons to mute, access the keypad or add a call. The new call screen, which is already available…
Chris Noth says he ‘strayed’ on his wife, but denies sexual abuse allegations by two women
Chris Noth has given his first interview regarding the sexual abuse allegations made against him in 2021. The actor spoke with USA Today as part of his new role as spokesperson for Samuelsohn, “a bespoke suit company launching a campaign to raise awareness about men’s mental health.” Noth said he is only guilty of being unfaithful to his wife. “I strayed on my wife, and it’s devastating to her and not a very pretty picture,” he said during the interview. “What it isn’t is a crime.” In a 2021 story published by The Hollywood Reporter, two women, who used pseudonyms to protect…
Tory Lanez, the man convicted of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 years in prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office told CNN. In December of last year, a Los Angeles jury found Lanez guilty of three charges related to the July 2020 shooting of fellow rapper Stallion in the Hollywood Hills, the Los Angeles County District Attorney told CNN at the time. Lanez had pleaded not guilty to assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, according to prosecutors. The…
Kanota, Rajasthan, is a dusty obscure hamlet these days. But it once bridged India’s two ancient kingdoms: the Mughal court in Agra and the Royal court of Jaipur. On this road lies the Villa Palladio boutique hotel and resort. A colorful history Jaipur is known as “the pink city” for its pastel buildings. The Villa is half an hour away, but it feels like its own world. For one thing, it’s not pink. It’s also not decked out in the floral or geometric patterns Jaipur is known for. Instead, the structure has walls in a shade of scarlet borrowed from…
Mansion on wheels: Step inside the Elemment Palazzo Superior, a double-decker RV with a pop-up rooftop lounge
The term “luxury vehicle” usually brings to mind Rolls-Royce Phantoms, Lamborghinis or Ferraris. But what about an ultra-extravagant recreational vehicle? Enter the Elemment Palazzo Superior. We can’t blame you if you slow down to rubberneck – or stop in your tracks completely – when you see this spaceship-like RV coming down the highway. Designed and engineered by Marchi Mobile – a subsidiary of Marchi Holding AG, a European automobile company specializing in promotional vehicles and healthcare trucks – the Elemment Palazzo Superior looks like nothing else on the road. Billing itself as the “most luxurious mobile home in the world,” the innovative…
There is no evidence the global spread of Facebook is linked to widespread psychological harm, an Oxford Internet Institute (OII) study suggests. The research looked at how wellbeing changed in 72 countries as use of the social media platform grew. It counters the common belief that social media is psychologically harmful, the researchers argue. Several countries, including the UK, are considering legislation to protect social media users from online harms. Meta, which owns Facebook, has faced scrutiny following testimony from whistle-blowers and press reports based on leaks that suggested the company’s own research pointed to negative impacts on some users. This research only looked…
Hundreds of Amazon sellers have complained that the online marketplace is withholding their money. Amazon said it emailed sellers about a ‘delivery date based reserve’ which holds some money in case of refunds. But some sellers have written to their MPs saying they cannot get the cash needed to run their businesses. Vinyl and CD seller Mario told the BBC Amazon is holding £5,000 leaving him “shaken and panicked” and fearing he can no longer continue trading. He has been selling music on Amazon for seven years, but said he can no longer afford to renew his stock, or pay…
The UK’s six biggest water firms are facing legal action over claims they underreported pollution and overcharged customers. Severn Trent is the first in line, with claims against the other firms expected in the coming months. A law firm says it could result in customers on average receiving £40 each, but the process could take years and there is no guarantee of success. Trade body Water UK said the accusations were “without merit”. The claims are being brought by Professor Carolyn Roberts, an environmental and water consultant represented by Leigh Day Solicitors. Leigh Day says it is the first environmental…
Several Miss Universe Indonesia candidates have registered police complaints accusing organisers of sexual abuse. The contestants were asked to take off their tops for “body checks” and photographs two days before the finals on 3 August, one of their lawyers said. The organisers allegedly told the women they had “to examine any scars, cellulite or tattoos on their bodies”. “I feel that my rights have been violated,” one of the contestants said. “It has affected me mentally. I have had trouble sleeping,” she said, speaking to the media, alongside other complainants, earlier this week. Local television blurred their faces in…
Shares of WeWork, the once globally hyped office space sharing company, have plunged after it raised “substantial doubt” about its future. The company’s shares fell by close to 24% in extended trading in New York. The firm added that its management needed to raise additional capital to keep it afloat over the next 12 months. WeWork, which is backed by Japanese tech giant Softbank, was hit hard by the pandemic as social distancing rules drove people to work from home. However, it has yet to turn a profit even after workers returned to offices as coronavirus restrictions eased. On Tuesday, WeWork…
