Fyre Festival 2 Tickets Are Now On Sale – And Selling Out – According To Embattled Founder Billy McFarland
Founder of the disastrous 2017 Fyre Festival Billy McFarland appears ready for round two. McFarland, who served time in federal prison for crimes related to his involvement in the 2017 fest that fell apart in grand fashion, announced on his Instagram page on Sunday that tickets for “Fyre Festival 2” are now on sale, and on Tuesday he updated via his social media that the first batch of tickets were already sold out. “It has been the absolute wildest journey to get here, and it really all started during a seven-month stint in solitary confinement,” he said in his video on Sunday, going on to say…
Awkwardly bringing the animated character to life in her own series, “Ahsoka” gets so much right about the look and action of “Star Wars” that its shortcomings – an overall stiffness slowed by long, pregnant pauses – feel more pronounced. There’s still hope for this showcase featuring Rosario Dawson as Anakin Skywalker’s all-grown-up Padawan, but the first two episodes don’t possess as much Force as they should. Having already introduced Dawson’s Ahsoka in “The Mandalorian,” Dave Filoni, the producer of that series as well as the animated “Star Wars Rebels” and “Clone Wars,” set the table for what has become one of the most…
Alliance Of Motion Picture And Television Producers Publicly Shares Latest Package Proposed To Writers Guild Of America
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) shared in a news release their latest package of terms proposed to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) as part of strike negotiations. The proposed package from AMPTP includes an increase in wages, which the studios say is the highest wage increase for WGA in 35 years. Some residual pay would increase, according to the release. In addition, written material produced by artificial intelligence will not be considered literary material and viewership data would be shared confidentially with the WGA so there is increased data transparency, the release says. AMPTP included…
At a startup factory in Hosur, a southern Indian city not far from Bangalore, the assembly line is buzzing with lightning-fast activity. Here, workers in black uniforms churn out a brand-new electric scooter every 90 seconds, while executives review the company’s skyrocketing sales. “Two-wheelers are going electric crazy fast,” says Tarun Mehta. Mehta is the 33-year-old CEO of Ather Energy, an electric scooter manufacturer that has enjoyed a recent explosion of demand. Three years ago, the company sold about 200 units a month, he said. Now, it easily clears about 15,000 units monthly. “Revenues are skyrocketing,” Mehta told CNN. This is…
Japan’s controversial plan to release treated waste water from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean has sparked anxiety and anger at home and abroad. Since the 2011 tsunami which severely damaged the plant, more than a million tonnes of treated waste water has accumulated there. Japan has said it will start discharging it from Thursday. Despite an endorsement from the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the plan has been deeply controversial in Japan with local communities expressing concerns about contamination. Fishing industry groups in Japan and the wider region have also voiced concerns about their…
Fires that have claimed 20 lives in Greece are still burning out of control in foothills near Athens and the Evros region near the border with Turkey. Eighteen of those killed are thought to be refugees and migrants who crossed the border recently, hiding in forests north of the city of Alexandroupolis. Greece has expressed its deepest sorrow for the deaths in the Dadia forest close to the Turkish border. For five days, fires have burned near the city and west along the coast. Firefighters are also trying to stop a fire spreading from the slopes of Mount Parnitha, to…
South Korea’s first nationwide air-raid drill in six years has met with a tepid public response, even amid a looming satellite launch by the North. At 2pm local time on Wednesday, vehicles were ordered to pull over and people told to evacuate to air raid shelters during the 20-minute exercise. It is part of wider military exercises aimed at improving the country’s response to a North Korean attack. Pyongyang claims it will soon launch a rocket carrying a satellite. The satellite launch is said to be a test of its long-range missile technology. The drill, which used to be held…
Shares of VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker that went public in a red-hot Wall Street debut last week, enjoyed another stunning rally again Tuesday. The stock more than doubled in price in New York, soaring 109% to close at $36.7 as small investors buzzed about the startup automaker. The strong market performance could make it easier for VinFast to raise more money from investors, a move CEO Thuy Le told CNN the company was considering. A similar story played out last week, when VinFast began trading on the Nasdaq. Its shares surged more than 250%, making it worth more than much…
Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Tuesday unexpectedly skipped a business forum of the BRICS economic group in South Africa, sending his commerce minister instead to deliver a fiery speech in his name that decried US hegemony. Xi, who arrived in Johannesburg on Monday for the annual BRICS summit of major emerging economies, was scheduled to deliver a speech at its business forum on Tuesday alongside leaders from India, Brazil and South Africa. But the Chinese leader failed to show up at the event, with no official announcement or explanation from Beijing. Instead, his prepared statement – peppered with thinly-veiled swipes at the United States…
