The six people who died in a luxury hotel suite in Thailand were poisoned by tea laced with cyanide, police have said. Police suspect that one of the dead was behind the poisoning and was driven by crushing debt. The six deceased were found dead by housekeepers at the Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in the Thai capital Bangkok late on Tuesday. Investigators believe they had been dead for 24 hours by then. Two of the six had loaned “tens of millions Thai baht” to another of the deceased for investment purposes, authorities said. Ten million baht is worth nearly $280,000…
On Tuesday, Sen. Bob Menendez was found guilty on 16 counts including bribery, extortion, wire fraud, obstruction of justice and acting as a foreign agent. A key piece of evidence prosecutors presented to jurors during the nearly seven-week-long trial was the gold bars the FBI seized from the senator’s home which he and his wife allegedly received in exchange for acting on behalf of foreign government officials and business people. Menendez maintains his innocence and plans to appeal the verdict, he told reporters outside the Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday. The discovery that Menendez owned a hoard of gold bars stunned many people. Who even…

These cycles are repeated over a set period of time. The workouts are popular because they are quite beneficial. You can burn a lot of calories in a short period of time during a HIIT workout, which is great for time-pressed individuals. They also build muscle mass, are better at enhancing sports performance…
Teens Feel Less Emotional Support Than Their Parents Think They Do, New Report Shows
As a youth mental health crisis persists in the US, a new report highlights a significant gap between the level of support that teenagers feel and the amount that parents think their children have. Only about a quarter of teens said they always get the social and emotional support they need, but parents were nearly three times more likely to think they did, according to a report published Tuesday by the National Center for Health Statistics. The findings are based on nationally representative surveys of nearly 1,200 children ages 12 to 17 and their parents, conducted in 2021 and 2022. Parents responded…
JD Vance’s ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ Tops Amazon Book And Netflix Film Charts Following Trump’s VP Appointment
In 2016, a venture capitalist and Yale law graduate named JD Vance published a memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy.” The instant bestseller turned Vance into a media star and was later adapted into an Oscar-nominated film directed by Ron Howard. Eight years after its publication, Vance’s book has found its way back onto the bestseller lists, thanks to his appointment as Donald Trump’s running mate. Less than 24 hours after Trump announced Vance was his vice-presidential pick, “Hillbilly Elegy” shot to the top of Amazon’s bestselling books. On Tuesday, the 2020 film adaptation of “Hillbilly Elegy,” starring Glenn Close and Amy Adams, was the 6th most-watched movie on Netflix’s Top 10 in…
Microsoft is being investigated in the UK over whether it has effectively merged with an artificial intelligence (AI) start-up firm by hiring its staff. Key employees at Inflection AI left the company in March to join the tech giant, with co-founder Mustafa Suleyman becoming head of its new AI division. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said it would investigate whether this constituted a merger, and if so, whether it could lessen competition. “We are confident that the hiring of talent promotes competition and should not be treated as a merger,” a Microsoft spokesperson told the BBC. The CMA also said Microsoft had…
Disney has confirmed it is investigating an apparent leak of internal messages by a hacking group, which claims it is “protecting artists’ rights”. The group, Nullbulge, said it had gained access to thousands of communications from Disney employees and had downloaded “every file possible”. It is not clear how commercially sensitive the information is for the media and theme park giant, but it is reported to include messages about upcoming projects the firm is working on. “Disney is investigating this matter,” a company spokesperson told the BBC in an email. Nullbulge’s website says the group targets anyone it believes is…
Billionaire Elon Musk has said he will move the headquarters of two of his most high-profile companies, rocket firm SpaceX and social media platform X, out of California to Texas. He cited his opposition to a new Californian state law which bans schools from requiring staff to disclose information about a child’s gender identity – including to parents. “This is the last straw,” he wrote on social media. The businessman had already moved Tesla’s headquarters to Texas in 2021, a move he first threatened over Covid-era lockdowns. Since then, he has become increasingly involved in US politics. Over the weekend, he…
At the end of the Canadian Arctic summer, polar bears head inland to wait for the ice to form. And while thousands of tourists flock to catch a glimpse of these magnificent predators, researchers are developing novel ways to keep people and bears safely separated. New tracking devices that stick in polar bears’ fur could be the key to protecting both people and bears – by closely monitoring the animals’ locations. Polar bears now spend more of the year on land, as Arctic sea ice melts, so conservationists are increasingly concerned about bears and people coming into contact. The tracking…
