In a social media post, Mr Musk said the robots will first be used by Tesla, which will start making them to sell in 2026. The technology billionaire had previously said he expected the robot, called Optimus, to be ready for use in Tesla factories by the end of this year. Other firms, including Honda and Boston Dynamics, have also been developing their own humanoid robots. “Tesla will have genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production for Tesla internal use…
A court in the United Arab Emirates has handed 57 Bangladeshis long prison terms for holding protests in the Gulf state against their own country’s government. Three of the unnamed defendants were sentenced to life for “inciting riots in several streets across the UAE on Friday”, while 53 others were jailed for 10 years and one for 11 years, state-run Wam news agency reported. It cited their court-appointed defence lawyer as arguing during Sunday’s trial that the gatherings had no criminal intent and that the evidence was insufficient. Amnesty International condemned what it called the UAE’s “extreme reaction to the mere…
Vice-President Kamala Harris has attracted the support of enough Democratic delegates to become the party’s nominee for president, the BBC’s US partner CBS News reports. A survey by the Associated Press on Monday evening said Ms Harris had received the endorsement of more than the 1,976 delegates needed to win the nomination in the first round of voting. Ms Harris said she was “proud” to have secured “broad support” and looked forward to formally accepting the nomination. Delegates are people who are selected to represent their electoral area at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), the party’s key nominating event. Such endorsements…

The climate science mission, known as Polar Radiant Energy in the Far-InfraRed Experiment, or PREFIRE, aims to improve scientists’ understanding of how water vapor, clouds and other elements of Earth’s atmosphere trap heat and keep…
Asia’s 50 Best Bars For 2024 Have Been Announced. A Newcomer Has Earned The Top Spot
Bar Leone – an Italian cocktail spot in central Hong Kong – has been crowned the best bar in Asia. It’s an impressive achievement, considering the venue has only been open for about a year. “We were not expecting this,” co-founder Lorenzo Antinori told CNN shortly after the award ceremony. A Rome native, he originally pursued a career in law but found himself enjoying his part-time job behind the bar more than he did studying for the bar. “We have a bar scene in Hong Kong that is vibrant. It’s always been very strong but I can see that after…

They don’t have to work at it, right? They just are,” social psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky recently told CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta on his podcast Chasing Life. “(They’re) kind of like people who are thin naturally, and they don’t have to work hard at it.” Lyubomirsky, distinguished professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside,…

The chancellor has hinted that she may give public sector workers above-inflation pay rises this summer. Rachel Reeves’ comments come after it is understood independent pay review bodies recommended an increase of 5.5% for teachers and some NHS workers. In her first interview from No 11 Downing Street, she said: “I really value public service workers, in our schools, in our hospitals, in our police as well… “There is a cost to not settling, a cost of further industrial action, and a cost in terms of the challenge we face recruiting.” But Ms Reeves told Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg that “we will…
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Giovanni Pernice has insisted “I’ll be back” after facing allegations about his behaviour on the show. His former dance partner Amanda Abbington had claimed his behaviour on Strictly was “unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean”, in an interview with the Sun on Sunday. It had been widely reported that Sherlock star Abbington experienced difficulties working with her dance partner Pernice on the show in 2023. Strictly has confirmed the dancer will not be returning for the show’s series this year, and his spokesperson has previously said he refuted the allegations and denied any accusations of abusive…
