As the passengers from Port-au-Prince disembark at the bus terminal in Cap-Haitien, the harrowing journey is evident on their faces. The trip out of the beleaguered Haitian capital city involves running the gauntlet along risky and dangerous roads, trying to avoid gunmen and sporadic violence along the way. “It took us several hours longer than it should as we had to reroute from the gang checkpoints along the way and there was gunfire”, says one passenger, who didn’t give his name and was clearly shaken by the experience. At one time, tigers lived across the Eurasian continent, from the Caspian Sea to the Russian Far East, south to the Indonesian islands of Sumatra, Java, and Bali. Today, though, they live in just 10 nations, occupying a fraction of their former range. Habitat loss remains a constant threat. That’s why conservationists have teamed up with NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and Google Earth Engine to create a new real-time monitoring system for tiger habitats. Called “TCL 3.0” (standing for “Tiger Conservation Landscapes”), the mapping system provides tiger-range countries with the information they need to identify priority areas, and monitor changes in the…

The BBC has heard claims that some customers found their accounts reactivated with money taken for orders they had not made. They believe that just logging on to the app reactivated their accounts. HelloFresh said money was taken only when customers made a “proactive decision” to revive an account. Laurence, a finance director from Bedfordshire, said his wife Nina set up a trial period with HelloFresh in November but was not impressed by the service. “Having cancelled the HelloFresh subscription three months ago,…

But I saw the sky and…

The Leicester Tigers lock has won 10 caps and is still in the relative infancy of his Test career, but his performances for England have belied his 22 years. Influential in the line-out and with controlled aggression in the loose, Martin has made quite the impression on his team-mates. England captain Jamie George says Martin’s no-nonsense approach has “led the way”. “George came into the team having not played…
